At the stand of Konsberg Maritime AS, professional visitors to the World Fishing Exhibition will find the latest innovations in equipment for fish detection, including the new high frequency Simrad SH90 and the new Split Beam Echo Sounder Simrad ES70.
The Simrad SH90 is a redesign of its predecessor, the sonar SH80, and now includes a new transducer, transceiver and signal processor as well as signal processing software for the system. Linear transmission also has DM, portrait and landscape views, 360º stabilization, dual mode (two sonars in one), the ability to record, a simple and intuitive menu; as explained by Konsberg Maritime AS, all are aimed to detect difficult targets such as mackerel, tuna or species which are found at the bottom. ‘This backed by positive feedback from two Norwegian vessels at the start of 2009’, explains Mads Dahl, the Sales & Marketing Director, Simrad, who also announced that new tests were to be conducted at the WFE aboard a Spanish tuna vessel.
Meanwhile, Simrad has high expectations from its next generation echo sounder, the ES70, which includes all the aspects of its predecessor (the ES60) but featuring the new intuitive, multilingual menu, a range dependent pulse length, screen history memory buffer, depth detector, bottom hardness calculator, zoom window for fish size and volume amongst other new facets.
