On the 16th September, the Exhibition Centre of Cotogrande will open its doors to host the most international and heterogeneous World Fishing Exhibition ever. Vigo'09 will bring together not only fisheries professionals, but also aquaculture ones under the umbrella of Aqua Farming International, an exhibition dedicated to this activity.

The World Fishing Exhibition presents a wide offer of fishing equipment, which ranges from the latest technology on winches and haulers to fish finders and navigation instruments. On the other hand, at the exhibiting space of Aqua Farming International you will find everything from water treatment and filtering systems to buoys and inflatable fender buoys, and even cages for fish farming at open sea and the new raft for mussel farming.

The participation of Pescanova, S.A. stands out among the companies due to its extractive and marine farming activities. The Galician multinational, with fisheries presence in more than 25 countries, is probably the company which has grown most in the marine farming world in the last five years and will have a special place at the World Fishing Exhibition. Although it is a historical exhibitor, as it has participated in all the exhibitions since 1973, its attendance to the event is always good news, given the significance and international dynamism of the company.

Pescanova, S.A., with a fleet composed of more than 120 vessels, is a leader in the aquaculture industry thanks to the production of turbot in Europe with highly efficient plants in Spain and Portugal. In Chile, it plays an outstanding role as regards salmon exports, whose total production is devoted to exportation. Its activity in Central America is also important, where it farms more than one hundred hectares of Vannamei shrimp. The company is also developing tilapia in Brazil.

Companies from Russia, Malaysia, India, North and South Korea, China, Lithuania, Turkey and Thailand, among others, will display their products for the first time at the World Fishing Exhibition and companies from Iceland, China, Denmark, France, Holland, Faroe Islands, Italy, Morocco, Norway, United Kingdom, Senegal, Sweden and Taiwan will take national pavilions. The participation of the administrations is also outstanding. The FROM, autonomous organization dependent from the Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs doubles its participation with a stand at the World Fishing Exhibition area and another one at Aqua Farming International, demonstrating the importance given to aquaculture by the government. The Xunta de Galicia, which will hold a 900-square metre institutional stand, will display its great deal of experience and know-how both as regards fisheries and aquaculture and Andalusia, Valencia, Murcia and the Canary Islands will also attend Vigo 2009. The Community Fisheries Control Agency will also be present and, together with the European Maritime Safety Agency, will celebrate Europe Day on the 18th September within the scope of the World Fishing Exhibition.

As for visitors, we can assure that the attendance of professionals is guaranteed, given the record number of people registered at the website of the Exhibition during the free registration period. In addition, ten days before the opening of the exhibition, professionals coming from 109 different countries had already registered, highlighting the presence of professionals coming from countries such as Italy, Denmark, Brazil, Argentina, India, Iceland, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, New Zealand, Namibia, Mexico, Canada or Russia. An important delegation of businessmen will come from this last nation to the World Fishing Exhibition with the objective of analyzing the offer of latest technology to update their deteriorated fleet.
