Norio Sato, Director-General of the Fisheries Planning Division of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Hideo Inomata, Assistant Director of the Fisheries Processing Industries and Marketing Division of the Fisheries Agency of Japan, had a meeting with the President of the World Fishing Exhibition Executive Committee, Alfonso Paz-Andrade. The meeting was also attended by Javier Tena, ICEX Delegate in Vigo, Isabel Fernández Visozo, from ICEX headquarters in the same city, and José Osuna, Manager of the WFE-Vigo'09.
The Japanese government representatives showed special interest in the celebration of the World Fishing Exhibition, as well as in the significance of the World Summit on Fisheries Sustainability. The possibility of collaborating together was analyzed and the outstanding attendance of professional visitors to each World Fishing Exhibition held in Vigo was highlighted, especially by the Japanese representatives. In this sense, Alfonso Paz-Andrade emphasized the comprehensive international promotional campaign carried out for the event and explained that this year the WFE-Vigo’09 will set record for foreign exhibitors. In fact, the space booked by foreign exhibitors has increased by 1,000 square metres.
Norio Sato and Hideo Inomata gathered lots of information about the World Fishing Exhibition and Aqua Farming International, which will be celebrated for the first time under the umbrella of the WFE. They expressed the will of Japan of taking part in the two international events to be held alongside the World Fishing Exhibition: the World Summit on Fisheries Sustainability and the Fifth Fisheries Ministers Conference.
